Can you hear the birds?

Spending time with God… Our lives are so busy and so noisy. We don’t have enough solitude, we don’t have enough time being alone the examples can go on and on.

Isaiah 30:15 (NLV) says
The Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said, “In turning away from sin and in rest, you will be saved. Your strength will come by being quiet and by trusting.” But you would not

We always think we’ve got to have something on the tv, shopping, social media and such. One of the best ways to experience the presents of God is to get quiet enough in your own house or maybe even sitting outside just to stop hear the birds. Sometimes I just think we don’t stop and intake the small things.

1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV)
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

This scripture just brought this teaching into perspective for me. God had the ability to use the wind, mountains, earthquake, fire but no God chose to use a still small voice. He wants us to take time to keep quiet and just listen for His voice. He is a jealous God who wants and longs for us to take time out of whatever we have going, to stop and put him first and listen.

So just ponder this finishing out the end of this week… Are you taking time to hear the birds?
