Do You Have What It Takes??? Part 3

Did you ask your self the question I left with you last time? What was your answer??? It could of been a sports activity. Or a hobby. Maybe even a friend or a family member. Maybe being popular is your god or idol. Or looking perfectly beautiful is what you spend all your time thinking about  and trying to make happen. It can really be just about anything at all, and when it becomes an idol in your life- you can tell because nothing else matters except the think that is getting your whole focus. It can be a good thing or a not-so-good thing, but whatever it is, you know it’s an idol when God gets shoved out of your life. God doesn’t want our whole focus to be on other people and things. He wants our love and attention. The Lord God wants first place in our lives, and one of the reason is because as our maker he knows what best for us. He loves us with an everlasting love, and he doesn’t like to see us loving thing more than we love him because when that happens, our lives turn upside down. We become more and more focused on things other than God , and they end of controlling are lives and breaking our hearts.

So I have a question: Do you have what it takes to pray and ask God for help with the problem or idols in your life? Will you allow God to some in and be first place in your life? The truth is, nothing wold thrill him more!

Hope you enjoyed this teaching… Do You Have What It Takes???

Do You Have What It Takes??? Part 2

Did you enjoy part 1 ?  Part 2 is even better let us dive right in:

Deuteronomy 11:16 says, “But do not let your heart turn away from the lord to worship other gods”. The gods in this case were anything other than the Lord God,like the carved stones. And though it is unbelievable to think of worshipping a stone carved by man and making a god out of it, the truth is, we have a tendency to make idols out of things these days too. Just think about it. If you understand that what we care about gets our adoration or ongoing attention, see if you can look at your life and figure out if you might be worshipping some things or activities more than you worship God. Now I don’t mean that how you spend most of your time is necessarily a signal of what you care about most because the majority of you go to school about seven hours a day, and then you sleep about eight hours a night . No, what I am asking is what takes first place in your heart most often?

Part 3 coming soon…

Hope to see you like part 3 too!

Do You Have What It Takes??? Part 1

“Do you have what it takes to become the next American Idol? It’s an interesting and entertaining show. But have you ever really thought about what the world idol means? In this case the show revolves around everyone trying to become the dol. It is the desired thing to achieve. To become the idol means that everyone thinks you are fabulous! Instantly popular . Instanlty winning a recording contract. In the bible, God talks a lot about idols, and it’s not at all like the show. In Leviticus 26:1 God says, “Do not make idols or set up carved images, scared pillars,or shaped stones to be worshipped in your land. I, the lord, am your God, ” God is commanding the people not tom make idols. In those days it wasn’t unusual for someone to grab a stone, carve it,and set it up as something to be worshipped  or adored. I know it sounds pretty silly, nut that was the custom back then, and God didn’t like it. The reason he didn’t like it is because he wanted to be worshipped and adored. God still wants to be worshipped as first place in our life all the time. Just as he did with the people in the old testament. So he addressed the problem of idolatry all though the old and new testament.”

Come join me next time to get some more in sight on this topic!
